On 26th January 2016, Bridge & Stitch featured in Drapers online article regarding unethical workforce practices in fashion and how British fashion companies need to collaborate to aid the UK Manufacturing industry.
Drapers is the leading business magazine covering the fashion retail sector and it is a huge privilege to be recognised by them.
They highlight that ‘compliance and cash flow are some of the issues that challenge the growth of UK garment manufacturers but retailers and suppliers are making strides in the right direction by working together.’ In spite of the ethical reputation of UK garment manufacturers, the ‘new retailer-led audit system’ is filling suppliers with hope that we can revive the growth of the industry.
Bridge and Stitch feature towards the end of the article as Drapers recognise us as aiding the industry by supporting ‘brands in working with UK manufacturers’. In particular, our director, Rachael Hobbs, explains that ‘handholding’ is a major part of our business that has allowed us to grow and has led to a significant increase in enquiries. In accordance with several other manufacturing companies, this allows production to be increased and the relationship between suppliers and retailers to strengthen.
They also made reference to our current job vacancy for a Design and Production Assistant. If this is of interest to you then refer to our previous blog post and get in touch!
It is great to see the recognition of the work that UK manufacturing companies do and that slowly but surely, the manufacturing industry in this country is improving.
Unfortunately, we cannot post the whole article here but you can view it in full here and by subscribing for free to Drapers magazine. It will be worth it – you never know, we could be in there again!
