The second stage of our production process is Tech Packs. This takes all of the designs and details agreed in the Design Development stage and adapts them for industry standard sheets. This stage is one of the most crucial but is often overlooked. But don’t worry, we are here to help you understand more about it.
Tech Packs are tailored to each individual garment and can include design specification sheets, manufacturing specification sheets, grading sheets, artwork (PACART) sheets, and colour boards. Of course these are produced on industry standard computer programs.
These sheets are essential, providing really clear instructions on all of your garment’s details. This significantly reduces the risk of mistakes!
A design specification sheet is the first sheet to be produced. It contains a technical, front and back, drawing of your garment, and can include extra views for complex details. The drawings are accompanied by a description of all aspects of the product, including construction details, fabric choices, colourways, size range, and quantities. This sheet is sent out to factories for guide line production quotes.
A manufacturing specification sheet takes the technical drawing from the design specifications and gives a list of all of your product’s measurements in the sample size. Factories and pattern cutters use this a guide and reference point throughout production.
A grading specification sheet grades each measurement from the sample size up and down to your required size range. We wait to do this until the sample has been approved so that any adjustments do not affect the grading. Grading specification sheets will form the basis for your graded patterns.
PACART sheets provide information and technical drawings of things like prints, embroideries, fabric design, branding, labels, swing tickets, and appliques.
Colour boards illustrate all colourways your product will be produced in.
We can produce Tech Packs for a large range of textile products, including clothing, accessories, home furnishings, bags, fitness equipment, and more!
Making Tech Packs usually takes between 1 and 2 weeks, before we start sourcing fabrics.
